Ripple has taken another significant step in its global regulatory expansion strategy after receiving preliminary approval for a Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) license in Luxembourg under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) framework.
The development further strengthens Ripple’s position within Europe and expands the company’s ability to provide regulated digital asset services across one of the world’s largest financial markets.
According to Ripple, the approval was granted by Luxembourg’s Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF) and takes the form of a Green Light Letter, subject to the completion of final regulatory conditions.

The next wave of regulated digital…
CASP Approval Expands Ripple’s Reach Across Europe
The preliminary CASP authorization allows Ripple to move closer to offering regulated cryptoasset services throughout all 30 countries within the European Economic Area (EEA).
Once final approval is granted, Ripple will be able to scale its services across the region under a unified regulatory framework established by MiCA.
The development is particularly significant because MiCA has emerged as one of the most comprehensive digital asset regulatory frameworks globally, providing greater legal clarity for both crypto companies and financial institutions.
For Ripple, the approval creates a pathway to serve banks, fintech companies, payment providers, and corporate clients throughout the European market.
Luxembourg Becomes Ripple’s European Hub
The new approval builds on Ripple’s existing regulatory presence in Luxembourg.
Earlier in 2026, the company secured an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license from the CSSF, giving Ripple authorization to provide electronic money services within the country.
Together, the EMI license and the CASP authorization create a powerful regulatory foundation that allows Ripple to offer both digital asset and stablecoin-related services through a single operational structure.
Once the CASP license receives final approval, Ripple will become fully compliant with MiCA regulations while maintaining a centralized European regulatory hub in Luxembourg.
Ripple Says Institutional Demand Continues to Accelerate
Commenting on the approval, Cassie Craddock, Managing Director for the UK and Europe at Ripple, said the MiCA framework is helping drive a new phase of institutional digital asset adoption.
According to Craddock, demand for regulated blockchain and digital asset infrastructure continues to increase across Europe as financial institutions seek compliant ways to engage with the sector.
The regulatory clarity provided by MiCA has been widely viewed as a catalyst for broader institutional participation, particularly among banks and traditional financial firms that previously remained cautious due to uncertainty.
Ripple’s expanding regulatory footprint positions the company to benefit from that growing demand.
Ripple’s Global Licensing Portfolio Continues to Grow
The Luxembourg approval represents the latest addition to Ripple’s growing list of regulatory authorizations worldwide.
The company now holds more than 75 regulatory licenses, registrations, and approvals across multiple jurisdictions.
Earlier this year, Ripple received both an EMI license and cryptoasset registration from the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority, strengthening its position in one of Europe’s most important financial markets.
Beyond Europe, Ripple has also secured major approvals in Singapore and the United Arab Emirates.
The company further expanded its international regulatory strategy in March 2026 through the acquisition of BC Payments Australia, a move designed to secure an Australian Financial Services License and broaden Ripple’s reach in the Asia-Pacific region.
Ripple Payments Continues to Scale Globally
The company revealed that Ripple Payments has now processed more than $100 billion in transaction volume.
Its network currently operates across more than 60 markets worldwide, supporting cross-border payment flows for financial institutions and businesses.
As regulatory approvals continue expanding, Ripple is positioning itself to increase its presence in additional jurisdictions while offering a wider range of blockchain-enabled payment and settlement services.
The new Luxembourg authorization significantly increases the company’s ability to pursue that growth throughout Europe.
XRP Remains Central to Ripple’s Infrastructure Strategy
For XRP supporters, the regulatory expansion carries additional significance because XRP continues to serve as a core component of Ripple’s broader payment infrastructure.
The digital asset functions as a bridge currency within Ripple’s ecosystem, helping facilitate cross-border value transfers and liquidity management.
As Ripple gains access to more regulated markets and expands its institutional network, the infrastructure through which XRP can potentially be utilized also grows.
Supporters argue that each new regulatory approval strengthens the foundation upon which Ripple can deploy its payment technology at a larger institutional scale.

Europe Emerges as a Key Growth Market
Matthew Osborne, Ripple’s UK and Europe Head of Policy, described Luxembourg as one of Europe’s leading financial regulatory centers.
With both EMI and CASP authorizations anchored in the country, Ripple is establishing a regulatory base capable of serving clients across the entire European Economic Area.
As MiCA implementation progresses and institutional adoption accelerates, Europe is increasingly becoming one of Ripple’s most important growth markets.
The latest approval underscores the company’s continued focus on regulatory compliance, institutional engagement, and global expansion as the digital asset industry matures.
