Ripple’s European License Could Accelerate XRP Adoption, Crypto Analyst Says

XRP Ledger Could See Increased Institutional Activity, Says Ripple CEO

Ripple’s preliminary approval for a Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) license in Luxembourg could have a significant impact on XRP’s adoption across Europe, according to Crypto Crusaders founder Levi Rietveld.

In a recent video, Rietveld described the development as one with “a very sizable impact on XRP’s price on a very short timeline,” arguing that the approval strengthens Ripple’s position as a regulated provider of digital asset infrastructure for financial institutions across the European Economic Area (EEA).

The company recently received a Green Light Letter from Luxembourg’s Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF) under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) framework. While the approval remains subject to final regulatory conditions, it marks another milestone in Ripple’s expansion across Europe.

MiCA Opens the Door to the Entire European Economic Area

Rietveld explained that MiCA is the European Union’s comprehensive regulatory framework governing crypto assets and crypto service providers.

A key feature of the regulation is its passporting system, which allows a company licensed in one EU member state to provide regulated services throughout the entire European Economic Area without securing separate licenses in each jurisdiction.

Ripple selected Luxembourg as its European headquarters, meaning final approval of its CASP license would enable the company to expand regulated crypto services across all 30 EEA countries through a single authorization.

The timing is also significant, with the approval arriving shortly before the July 1, 2026 deadline after which firms operating without MiCA authorization face regulatory restrictions across the region.

Combined Licenses Create a Complete Payment Infrastructure

According to Rietveld, the CASP license becomes even more valuable when combined with Ripple’s existing Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license in Luxembourg.

He explained that the EMI license governs traditional fiat payment services, including receiving, holding, and distributing fiat currencies. The CASP license complements that framework by covering cryptoasset services.

Together, the two approvals would allow banks, fintech companies, and corporate clients to access Ripple’s complete payments infrastructure through a single regulated integration, enabling both traditional currency and digital asset transactions within one compliant platform.

XRP Remains Central to Ripple’s Payment Network

Rietveld also emphasized XRP’s role within Ripple’s institutional payment ecosystem.

He noted that Ripple Payments uses XRP alongside the RLUSD stablecoin to facilitate cross-border transactions for banks, financial institutions, and enterprise clients. As Ripple expands its regulated footprint across Europe, both digital assets could see broader use within the company’s payment infrastructure.

Ripple has processed more than $100 billion in transaction volume across more than 60 global markets, and full MiCA compliance would extend that regulated network into one of the world’s largest financial markets.

The company now holds more than 75 regulatory licenses worldwide. According to Rietveld, expanding Ripple’s regulated presence across Europe strengthens the foundation for broader institutional adoption of its payment solutions, which could ultimately increase demand for XRP over the long term.
