Recently, Shiba Inu’s marketing lead, Lucie, unveiled the SHIB roadmap for the next three years, featuring exciting projects like WOOFVertise, SHY Mode, and the Shib.io Metaverse. Despite this buzz, some community members voiced their frustration over the lack of significant SHIB burns. One critic specifically accused Shiba Inu’s lead, Shytoshi Kusama, of failing the community. They argued that a substantial burn could potentially boost SHIB’s price.
Kusama’s Cryptic Response
In response to these demands, Kusama used a cryptic message. He suggested that lighting a candle, or burning small amounts of SHIB, is easy. However, he implied that igniting a substantial burn—comparable to warming an entire village—requires more time. Kusama’s comment hints that executing a significant burn, akin to “nuclear fusion,” is a complex process.

Kusama’s remarks indicate that the critic’s call for a large burn may focus on short-term effects rather than long-term strategies. The leader implied that substantial burns take more time and effort to implement.
Team’s Efforts in SHIB Burn Campaign
The Shiba Inu community continues to debate the issue of burning. Many believe that SHIB’s underperformance stems from its large circulating supply and that substantial burns could significantly influence the price. Consequently, both the ecosystem team and the community are working together on this front.

The team has actively contributed to SHIB burns through revenues from various projects, including Shibarium. For example, they have burned over 56 billion SHIB tokens using a portion of Shibarium’s gas fees. Recently, they introduced a burn mechanism on Shibarium to increase the burn rate further.
This new protocol burns SHIB based on Shibarium’s adoption. As more transactions occur on Shibarium, the demand for BONE to cover fees grows, with 70% of base fees used to burn SHIB. So far, efforts have led to the incineration of more than 410.72 trillion SHIB tokens, leaving a remaining supply of 589.27 trillion.
