Shiba Inu’s lead developer, Shytoshi Kusama, has finally reappeared after nearly three weeks of silence. He reconnected with the community via a message on his Telegram channel, known as “Shytoshi Portal.” In the message, Kusama stated, “Next week, let’s go back to it, can we?”

Lucie, Shiba Inu’s marketing specialist, shared a screenshot of Kusama’s message on X. She also hinted that something might be brewing behind the scenes. Her post left the community buzzing, asking whether Kusama was “cooking” something new for the ecosystem.

Kusama’s vague message stirred speculation across the community. Many believe he plans to resume work on Shiba Inu’s ecosystem. His return could mark the end of a quiet period that had left fans guessing.

Though Kusama has yet to share concrete plans, his message suggests a return to active development next week. The timing aligns with previous updates about ongoing Shiba Inu projects.

In addition to his Telegram message, Kusama posted on X for the first time since March 28. He shared a Spotify link to the “Shy Speaks” podcast, where he discussed the new Karma Reputation System.

He described the 21-minute podcast as the “first of many.” In the episode, he joined top Shiba Inu developer Shadowhunter to explain the Karma system and its purpose within the Shiba Inu ecosystem.

Karma System Tracks Real Engagement

Karma recently launched on Puppynet, the testnet version of Shibarium. The system measures true engagement within the ecosystem—not through likes or retweets but by tracking DeFi activity on Shibarium and ShibaSwap.

Participants earn points for specific actions, similar to a gamified leaderboard. The system has seven ranks, starting from Pup and going up to Dogo Master. As users climb the ranks, they gain voting power, higher visibility, and more say in governance proposals.

Kusama’s reappearance and podcast reveal come as the team gears up for the launch of Shib OS, a decentralized operating system.

The Karma system plays a key role in shaping community influence within Shib OS. With Kusama’s hint and Lucie’s teaser, the Shiba Inu team has signaled that major developments may be just around the corner.
