A surprising XRP transfer worth nearly $500 million has shaken the crypto community. Whale Alert identified a transaction involving 214,148,716 XRP, sent in a single transaction. The source was a long-standing wallet, while the recipient was a newly activated and previously inactive address. The receiving wallet, which opened in June 2025, had no prior activity. Following the transfer, the address now holds more than 708 million XRP, making it one of the top holders on the XRP Ledger.

Both Addresses Trace Back to Uphold
Although the wallets appeared unmarked at first, analysts traced both back to uphold a centralized exchange with a history of holding large XRP reserves. Despite the recipient address being new, its custodial behaviour matched patterns linked to Uphold’s internal systems first noted in 2021.

Uphold did not announce the transfer in advance. The platform also hasn’t issued any public statement since the move. The absence of user communication raised questions across the community. The transaction is an internal restructuring. Experts suggest it could be part of a custodial shift or cold wallet update. The lack of an external interface and transfer method supports this theory.
XRP Price Remains Unshaken
Interestingly, the market did not react to the whale activity. XRP prices remained stable, and trading volumes showed no sudden spikes. This calm response suggests the move did not involve retail liquidity or public funds.

Even after the transfer, the original wallet still retains more than a billion XRP. This highlights its strong influence over XRP’s circulating supply and raises further questions about the size and control of institutional reserves.

The mysterious relocation of half a billion XRP has sparked intense speculation. While on-chain data links the wallets to Uphold, the lack of official comment keeps the community on edge. Observers expect more internal transactions to emerge in the coming days as part of a broader custodial strategy.
